Now What?

December the 26th.  Sun comes up.  Eyes open.  No more shopping to do. No more cooking.  No more preparing, primping or fixing.  Put aside making festive, the reason for the season event has passed.  So now what? Maybe I’ll sleep-in.  Or watch football.  Or eat leftovers.  Wow, this is pretty boring.  What am I missing?

The same thing most people miss, the season of waiting is really over. Yes, Advent, the man-made season of preparing our hearts and minds for the one day celebration of remembering the birth of the man child Jesus who grew to be the crucified Jesus from Nazareth. But now we’re in the season of Christmas!!!!!!!!!!  Come on folks, get up and dance!

Christmas season is the season of thankfulness, but it’s not the kind we focused on in November where we’re taught about Pilgrims & Indians, turkeys, corn, pumpkins and harvests. Rather, it’s a season where every thank is focused on the coming of Christ. Thanks for a success pregnancy, safe delivery, parents to care for him, provide for him and thanks that God would, out of His infinite, incomprehensible love, would entrust created man & woman with His Child. His Child whom He knew would ultimately be required to die a horrible death in order to atone to the sins of those same people; and for people today. During this season focus your prayers on this. Learn about this season.  Strive to understand the pure gift that arrived on Christmas day and that would be betrayed and sacrificed for those He loved.

Fourteen days later, at sunset, we have yet another celebration, that of Epiphany.  This is when we commemorate the arrival of the Wise Men to the Child Jesus.  They didn’t really arrive 14 days later, it was more like two years, but if we waited for that we’d have three Christmases for every Epiphany and that would get very confusing …..

My prayer for you today is that you tuck this knowledge into your brain and bible and open both daily.  Celebrate Jesus daily, inviting Him in and get to know Him personally.

Let me tell you who I'm not. I'm not a Pastor or trained religious scholar. I have no degrees that declare me qualified; I have a God who makes it so. So, how can I write about Christ? How can I teach, preach, evangelize, share or testify? I am doing nothing more than answering a call from God. I am a woman of faith, a nobody, as a current song espouses, who wants to tell everybody about somebody. I want to share my personal insights into God and the Gospel, the Good New. I want to share the hope that is given to us and share the unbelievable gifts of grace, mercy and forgiveness that is given so freely with the birth, death, resurrection and acceptance of God's son, Jesus Christ.
